Squash Members!
1) At a Squash Committee meeting recently Nigel Bird pointed out several achievements this year, namely:
1st Team won Division 1 in the Sheffield & District Leagues
2nd Team won Division 3 in the Sheffield & District Leagues
University of Sheffield won the BUCS Northern 1A League and subsequently won the promotion playoffs to get promoted into the BUCS Premier League
Nick Wall (1st Team) won the British Over 40 Championship in Manchester
Murray Scott (1st Team) won the British Over 45 Championship in Manchester
So well done to all concerned!
2) The Committee was asked by Sam Watts (the Sheff. University Section rep.), if our courts were available for a new 'National Doubles Tournament' he is involved with. As the tournament is to be played on Bank Holday Monday, a traditionally a quiet time, and the event will bring revenue to the club, this request has been approved. So please check the bookings, well in advance for the 7th of May. There is reduced availability of courts during the day, however the evening bookings are not affected.
If you fancy coming along to watch doubles squash please do, it is exciting format to watch and some very good players are participating.
